Welcome to St Mary's Church of England Middle School

Thank you for visiting the website for St. Mary's C.E. Middle School.  We are a 9-13 middle school situated on the outskirts of Puddletown, five miles east of the county town of Dorchester, in the beautiful Dorset countryside.  The pupils, staff and governors are very proud of our school, and we hope that this website will allow you to see why.

St. Mary's is a church school with an ethos built on the core Christian values of respect, forgiveness, justice, uniqueness, equality, acceptance and kindness.  Our aim is to give every pupil the chance to achieve their potential in all areas of their life.  We embrace and celebrate difference and strive to build a school culture which allows everyone to experience a strong sense of belonging.  Our priority is to equip our youngsters with the knowledge and skills to thrive as forward-thinking, outward-looking global citizens.  This is underpinned by our broad, engaging curriculum which allows St Mary's pupils to benefit from specialist teaching and equipment in subjects such as Design and Technology, PE and Science as soon as they join us in Year 5.  

St Mary's is built on a very special culture of care and nurture; we have the highest expectations of all our pupils, and we expect high standards of both academic work and behaviour.  Our pupils are given opportunities to develop independence, responsibility, respect and concern for others, self-discipline and a good work ethic in their learning.  Our children are at the centre of everything we do, and we place a high value on partnership with our parents.
