Collective Worship
Acts of Worship are very important in the life of our school. We have a regular cycle of opportunities during the week for all members of the school community to come together to worship and celebrate. Some of these take place as a whole school gathered together in the hall, some in smaller groups and it includes some time to engage in quiet personal reflection in tutor groups.
We are pleased to use one of our autumn term acts of worship to hold our Harvest Festival. As part of the event, pupils bring in a contribution of food and/or money. We collect this together and distribute these to a local charity who can put them to good use in the local community. In recent years, we have split these between local Dorchester based food bank and the homeless shelter bus that opperates in and around Weymouth.
We come together each year to mark Remembrance Day in an Act of Worship in the school hall. As part of our reflection on the day, pupils and staff work to create poppies and wreathes to bring to the hall. These are then used to create a display in the school.
